Meet our team: today a portrait of Frank Schouten

Frank Schouten, who lives in Loenen aan de Vecht, is a senior tax lawyer at Kuipers & Claassen. He was self-employed for most of his working life.

In high school, the legal profession seemed like a good fit for him. But in the end it didn't work out that way. Frank began his studies in Dutch law at Utrecht University, majoring in business and socio-economics in his final year. When in doubt between organization or tax consultancy, he meets someone who puts him in contact with Deloitte & Touche where he also starts his career. During that period, he gets the opportunity to specialize in tax law at the University of Amsterdam.

In the late 1990s, together with a companion, he started Wisker & Schouten Belastingadviseurs, which name was later changed to Total in Support, with eventually two offices, one in Heemskerk and one in Amsterdam. Together they focused on advising mainly Dutch companies on tax issues, mergers and acquisitions, incorporation of companies, asset and financial planning, among other things. Over time, these activities expanded to include administrative services.

From a Lions club, Frank has been socially involved in local and national charities for many years. For the past two years he has been a member of a golf club. There too he is actively involved. Currently, he is involved in organizing the golf club's "business friends.

Besides golf, Frank's hobbies include traveling, skiing, and wine.

Together with his wife, Frank has two growing daughters with whom he regularly experiences the soccer matches of "his" club Ajax live in the stadium. While the youngest daughter is now in her third year of college, the oldest daughter has just graduated as a psychologist.

After an orientation period and a number of good discussions with Kuipers & Claassen, it was jointly decided to enter into an acquisition process that will take shape in a transfer of his company at the end of 2022. Since he has no plans to retire for the time being, he will ensure a smooth transfer of his clients to Kuipers & Claassen, a similar firm with the same culture and type of services, in the coming years. This will also allow Frank to introduce his clients to the additional services offered, such as disability insurance and mortgages. In addition, he will also continue to provide the usual services he was accustomed to doing for his clients.

In his work, the core values of professional and personal align most closely with Frank. Through confidential dealings with clients, he developed into a broad advisor and sparring partner.

Within his new working environment he can also fulfill a mentor role and in this way share his knowledge and experience. The mutual respect within Kuipers & Claassen gives him the confidence to shape his new role in a pleasant way. Frank also likes to let younger colleagues help him with things he is less familiar with, such as IT. Helping each other within the mixed company on the shop floor. A nice mix of young people and seniority.
